National Missing Persons Week

 In General

Brisbane City Council’s memorial at Pinnaroo Lawn Cemetery in Bridgeman Downs is home to a Missing Persons Memorial Garden, which provides a place for reflection and hope for the families and friends of missing loved ones who have not returned.

Earlier this week I spoke in the Council Chamber about National Missing Person’s week, and on Sunday I was privileged to attend a memorial service at Pinnaroo to commemorate this week. This was the first time Council’s cemeteries team has held a memorial service for National Missing Persons Week, and I’d like to acknowledge Councillor Vicki Howard for her support of this becoming an annual event.

It was wonderful to join attendees representing the QPS Missing Persons Unit and ChaplainWatch, as well as Bruce and Denise Morcombe from the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. Thank you for your tireless efforts to help keep our communities safe.
