What a great opportunity it was to interact with our indigenous leaders of the future at today’s Young Indigenous Forum held in the Parliamentary Annexe.
The Indigenous Forum is part of the celebrations to mark Queensland Parliament’s 150th Anniversary, and was organised by Brett Nutley, Indigenous Liaison Officer, and Graham Kinnear, Senior Education Officer Community Engagement at Parliament House.
Brett and Graham have planned a full schedule for these leaders – with a program that includes leadership, community development, and governance training; and discussions with politicians, and parliamentary staff.
The Forum will include a Young Indigenous Parliament tomorrow, and I look forward to taking on Deputy Speaker activities when the Youth Members debate the ‘Indigenous Youth Health Lifestyle Bill 2010’.
