More than 400 representatives from across Queensland came together on Friday 10 May 2013 to shape the questions that Queenslanders will answer to create a 30-year vision for Queensland.
Members of Parliament from all parties and all electorates in Queensland were invited to bring representatives from their communities to share their views and contribute to The Queensland Plan.
Thank you to Ms Mel Pope, Manager of Westpac Brach Aspley, Mr Adam Cocks, Manager of Cup from Above Cafe and Disability Support Worker and Mr Andrew Duncan, Principal of Aspley State School, for representing the electorate of Aspley at the Mackay Summit on May 10. I look forward to the opportunities that follow to help shape Queensland's future.
All Queenslanders are invited to contribute their ideas, energy and state pride to the Queensland Plan and create a genuine reflection of our collective aspirations for the future.

It waswas great pleasure that I attended several ANZAC Day ceremonies in our local community.
Thank you to the Geebung-Zillmere, Bald Hills-Aspley RSL Sub Branch for once again organising the commemorative services which saw an increased number of local residents attending.
ANZAC Day not only recognises the original ANZACs who made the ultimate sacrifice but is a day for everyone to recognise our service men and women who put their lives at rish to protect the freedoms that are privileged to enjoy today.

Walking to and from school will be safer for children and parents at Bald Hills State School as the State Government announced flashing traffic lights will be installed by June 2013.
I am pleased my nomination for Bald Hills State School was successful as part of the Newman Government’s $10 million Flashing School Lights Program. It is a proactive step taken by the Newman Government to tackle speeding in school zones and the signs will be a daily reminder to parents and other drivers to slow down and drive to conditions.

Over 100 registrants participated in a refresher workshop for Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of Declarations at the Craigslea State High School.
Sponsored by the Queensland Justices Association Brisbane North Branch, the workshop provided a valuable opportunity for the community to engage in the Justice Administration system.
It was great to have Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie in attendance and to give an address at the workshop.
JP's and C.Dec's provide a valuable volunteer service to the local community. The Brisbane North Branch also provides a signing centre stationed at the Aspley Hypermarket each Friday between 11am – 2pm for the local community to engage with qualified Justices of the Peace and Commissioners of Declarations.
For more information please visit www.qja.com.au or phone 1800 061 423.
