Welcome

As your local State MP, this website allows me to directly communicate with you about local issues, events, and other things of interest in Brisbane’s Northern suburbs.

I look forward to meeting you at some stage in the future, and if I can be of any assistance, please let me know.

Yours sincerely

Letter to Carseldine Residents - 6 July 2009 PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 06 July 2009

I have been working hard to keep locals up to date on the proposed Urban Land Development Authority (ULDA) development at Carseldine – including the QUT precinct.

I wrote to the Minister for Infrastructure and Planning on behalf of the community asking him to come and hear local concerns first hand before approving the development.  On Saturday, 4th July, he met with approximately 30 residents who had lodged submissions.

Unfortunately, the Minister’s office did not notify me until Thursday, so I was not able to provide notice to other residents beyond those the Minister contacted directly.

Those who attended raised a number of matters including:

• concern that the Minister had already approved the project prior to meeting with locals,
• the loss of substantial green space amenity,
• anxiety regarding already stretched road and rail infrastructure and services,
• unease surrounding the density of the new high-rise buildings, and
• confusion about the future uses for the QUT Campus Educational Precinct

I will be seeking answers from Prof Peter Coaldrake, Vice Chancellor of QUT regarding future plans for the Carseldine Campus.

The future of this campus is an issue affecting not only the Carseldine residents but the electorate as a whole.
