Welcome

As your local State MP, this website allows me to directly communicate with you about local issues, events, and other things of interest in Brisbane’s Northern suburbs.

I look forward to meeting you at some stage in the future, and if I can be of any assistance, please let me know.

Yours sincerely

Like all parents I hope that I have been able to ensure my children have navigated the sometimes challenging transition to greater independence into their young adult lives.

We all know that often at times it is not easy for many young people to avoid common pitfalls as they learn about the wider community.

Of course, it’s the primary responsibility of parents as caregivers to try and ensure their children are adequately prepared for life, but there is a resource that might be able to assist school leavers as they face some of life’s challenges.

‘Get Out There!’ guide for school leavers website - http://www.getoutthere.qld.gov.au/ - is a tool that was developed to increase awareness among young Queenslanders of their rights as consumers and the day-to-day issues they are likely to face in life after school.

It provides practical guidance on a wide range of subjects such as signing up for a credit card, renting a flat and buying a car.

Get Out There! is a reinvention of the printed guide book previously produced for school leavers, with online technology far more relevant to young people living in an increasingly wired world.

Parenting in my experience is tough – any support and advice is always welcome.
